KANSAS STATE HOUSE - DISTRICT 37
- “Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous. That which is altogether just shalt thou follow...” (Deuteronomy 16:19-20).
- “If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:” (James 2:8).
- “Run ye to and fro through the streets…and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it” (Jeremiah 5:1).
ABOUT ME
KEVAN MYERS - CHRISTIAN ABOLITIONIST
WHO?
My name is Kevan Myers.
I was raised in Wyandotte
County, as was my wife, and it is our joy to raise our five children here also. I am blessed to work as a laborer, and I also serve in a local church as a pastor. The Lord Jesus Christ saved me from my sins by His grace, and I desire in all things to glorify His name.
WHAT?
I am running for the Kansas House of Representatives in District 37.
WHY?
My determination is to seek justice, speak the truth, and love my neighbors as myself, encouraging others
to do the same.
ISSUES
Government~
Instituted by God, it is intended to protect its people from violations
against their person and property. Magistrates on each level are accountable, not
only to the people they serve, but also to the Lord. I stand against tyrannical
overreach and unconstitutional mandates upon businesses and individual freedoms.
Rights and Responsibilities~
Individual citizens not only have rights and freedoms, but also responsibilities that we are to
shoulder. Each person has the personal duty to properly self-govern—whether at home, work, or in public. Seek to
promote the public good (developing diligence, integrity, and care for our neighbors), rather than rely on government to
solve problems.
Education~
The duty of education rests on parents themselves—they are responsible for the academic training of their own
children, whether they choose to do it directly, or utilize a school to aid in providing that education. Parents have the right
as to where and how their children are being educated, and those rights are not to be infringed upon.
Family~
I affirm the family as the core unit of a society: I uphold the role of the father and the mother, and the blessing and
responsibility of children. There are only 2 genders, and marriage is designed and defined by God as a covenant between
a man and a woman. Tax penalties on marriage and government incentives to not marry are unjust and do not help
households. Strong families are a blessing to the state, and are not to be oppressed by the state.
Equal Protection~
All humans are created equal—made in the image of God and endowed by their Creator with
inalienable rights, the first of which is life. Thousands of preborn babies are being slain in Kansas each year. Abortion is
not healthcare but is in reality homicide of preborn humans with malice aforethought. I will not fight partiality with
partiality, abortion must be abolished, not regulated. I will seek to establish equal protection from murder under the law
without exception or compromise for all (no matter their age, size, or location).
US Constitutional Bill of Rights~
The 1st Amendment recognizes the freedom of speech, the press, and assembly.
The 2nd Amendment recognizes the right of the people to keep and bear arms, have a militia, no infringement.
The 5th and 14th Amendments recognize and ensure equal protection of the laws and the right to due process.
The 10th Amendment recognizes the rights reserved to individual states, and to the people themselves.
Kansas State Constitutional Bill of Rights~
1st—“All men are possessed of equal and inalienable natural rights, among which are life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness.”
2nd—“All political power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded in their authority, and
are instituted for their equal protection and benefit."
4th—Individual right to bear arms; armies
10th—-"Trial; defense of accused; witness against self; double jeopardy. In all prosecutions, the accused shall be
allowed to appear and defend in person, or by counsel; to demand the nature and cause of the
accusation against him; to face the witness face to face..."
11th—Liberty of press and speech.
